Between work and keeping up with your everyday life, you deserve time away from it all. Planning long enjoyable trips can be expensive and stressful on top of coordinating schedules and taking time off work.
Isn’t that what the weekend is for?
Adventure out with your partner to a new city without having to take time off and still be able to explore and relax. Here are 5-weekend getaways that you will love!
Chattanooga Tennessee
Chattanooga is a very exciting city to visit. There are lots of fun things to do and its the perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts. It is by far my favorite weekend getaway all year round. I find this destination to be adventurous and romantic.
It probably wouldn’t be at the top of your list of cities to visit, but you’ll be glad you did! Chattanooga has a lot to offer for those who love adventuring outdoors.
The thing I love most about this unique, yet laid-back city, is it’s beautiful scenery. Make the most of your trip by stopping by Milk & Honey for breakfast and Puckett’s Gro. & Restaurant for lunch. A few other places you should visit: The Coolidge Park, Tennessee Aquarium, Ruby Falls, or Lookout Mountain to see the seven states (Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, North & South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia) from the best scenic viewpoint.
Gulf Shores Alabama
Gulf Shores is the perfect place to visit for a fun, relaxing, and memorable beach trip. In fact, this was my first beach experience and you wouldn’t even think you’re in Alabama!
For those who are looking to visit a beach for the first time, Gulf Shores will be the perfect place! Especially if you’re looking for place to relax or to enjoy the great outdoors. It’s also near many restaurants, hotels, and shopping centers which is very convenient.
Gulf Shores isn’t a big city, but there are tons of activities to explore. You can visit Orange Beach, grab a bite to eat at The Hangout, then unwind and have some fun at The Warf!
Atlanta Georgia
Home to a beautiful skyline that most cannot resist. Atlanta is the city capital of Georgia and has excitement on every corner. There are shopping malls, fine dining, and inspiring attractions.
Depending on what you would like to do, you could purchase a CityPASS and save some money while enjoying some of Atlanta’s main attractions.
For example, you could take a trip to Lenox Square Mall, Georgia Aquarium, CNN Studio Tours, Skyview or even take a stroll at the Centennial Olympic Park.
Birmingham Alabama
Birmingham is the largest city in Alabama! Although, I never thought I’d be visiting and relocating here.
Birmingham is also known as The Magic City and is full of great views, food, and historic activities. There are lots of free things to do in this city. I recommend visiting Botanical Gardens its a free activity for you and your partner to enjoy together. Not to mention that the parking is free as well!
While you’re in Birmingham be sure to visit Vulcan Park, Railroad Park, The Civil Rights Institute or try a Local Brewery. Grab a bite to eat at Hattie B’s Hot Chicken or Jim-N-Nicks if you’re in the mood for BBQ.
Louisville Kentucky
Louisville is well known for horse racing, baseball, bourbon, outdoors, and entertainment. A two-day or even a day trip is just enough time to explore the city!
Fun fact:
Louisville has the largest fireworks display in the US which is shown at the Kentucky Derby Festival every year called Thunder over Louisville.
I’ve been to Louisville quite a few times and my favorite thing to do there is to visit Fourth Street Live which is located in Downtown Louisville. It’s free to enter and there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and dance clubs.
