HOW TO BUILD THE RIGHT HABITS

Habits matter, but having the right habits matters even more. This post is about how to build them with clarity and intention.

Habits can truly invite healing and growth into your life. When you align habits with your beliefs, values, goals, and desires, they begin to shape your life in a real way. Over time, consistency leads to meaningful change.

If you’ve wanted to make change but don’t know where to start, this is for you. Here are simple, realistic ways to build habits that actually lasts.

Change requires movement in the right direction. It may feel impossible to take action at times but, it’s crucial not to rely on emotions.

Everyone is in different seasons of life and have their own ambitions. So, your daily habits may look different from someone else’s.

The goal is to have habits that align with your goals, passions, hobbies, and/or priorities. Whether your current focus improving your health, finances, faith, relationships, or a specific skill.

Here are 6 Ways To Realistically Build The Right Habits (for you!)

Get Clear On Your Identity

In order to build habits intentionally, you must get clear on your identity. We live in a world that is constantly telling who we are and how we should be living our lives.

This is why it’s essential to know who you are in Christ.

When you discover what God says about you and your life you can focus on being just that. This leads to living a more authentic and joyful life.

Not only will this empower you to walk in truth, but it will allow you to silence anything that doesn’t align with who God says you are in a healthy way.

Wether it’s things you’ve spoken to yourself, opinions of others, or false identities you picked up from the past.

Let Go Of Any Unhealthy Beliefs & Replace Them With Truth

Letting go of unhealthy beliefs is crucial for your healing and living a fuller life.

Unhealthy beliefs that have made it into your life can come through thoughts, past experiences, negative thinking, or through others. Addressing them for what they are is the start of your healing and growth.

Truthfully speaking, it’s difficult to build new habits without addressing the old ones and why they’re there in the first place.

Doing so will remind you of the importance of being intentional about your actions. Then you can replace those negative beliefs with truth.

The most effective way I put this into practice is writing any doubts, fears, and feelings down. Then, I find a Bible verse that speaks life into those matters and it gives me a fresh and true perspective.

Design A Life That Aligns With Your Values

As you reflect on the person you’ve been showing up as and start letting go of unhealthy thought patterns and actions.

You then can start designing a life that aligns with your values.

This is truly the fun part. While change requires work, you can litterally change your life one day at a time through your habits.

And this journey can look however you want it to look. What matters is how you choose to approach it. Which means you may find it helpful to create processes that you look forward and move forward.

Romanticizing your routines is a fun way to experience change internally even before you see changes within your life.

Choose 3 Non-Negotiable Daily Habits To Commit To

The simplest way to start building the habits that will truly change your life is starting small.

You can do so by choosing 3 non-negotiable habits that you’d like to commit to that will bring the most change to your life.

On the hand, if you can juggle more than 3 daily habits that works too. Being realistic and considering your schedule and commitments is worth taking into thought when building new habits.

For example, I have a total of 10 habits that I focus on each month. They categorized into three categories. Here’s how:

With this system, I am still making progress and moving forward in some way even on my worst days.

So, if you’re looking to build better habits I HIGHLY recommend at least choosing 1-3 non-negotiable habits to complete daily. It will transform your life one day at a time!

Show Up Daily & Track Your Progress

When your daily habits are aligned with your identity and values, it easier to build a daily powerful routine. Simply because it includes your habits and is intentionally crafted.

Allowing you to show up with ease and confidence. While knowing that there is meaning and value in your actions. I would go as far to say that your list of habits will be a visual look of how each day will look.

Good habits are important and can even withstand the even the toughest seasons.

They have the ability to keep you grounded and help you show up authentically when rooted in faith.

Showing up daily to habits during the good and bad days brings me much gratitude. Habits not only help you create change but they are great motivators when you track your progress.

Having a habit tracker may be helpful when you’re not feeling motivated to show up. Seeing the days you showed up allows you to see the impact of each day you committed to your habits.

Your life doesn’t transform overnight, but it does shift one decision at a time.💫

Add or Stack Habits Realistically

Whether you’re trying stack new habits to your current ones or trying to build new ones from scratch it’s possible.

Adding habits or habit stacking on top of habits that you already have can make goals feel more attainable.

When you show up in small ways that’s where the difference happens.

Building new habits helps ensure that your time is being spent on things that you want to do intentionally rather than doing things that you do out of habit. Some actions can also be distracting from the goals you’d like to achieve.

Getting clear on what habits you need to remove or add to your life can give you the fresh start you need to create real change!
