How To Be Present And Live In The Moment
6 Ways To Live In The Present
1. Start With Slowing Down
When life feels and looks like chaos, it can be easy to go into panic mode, worry, doubt, or give into fear.
This is why it’s important to be intentional about your actions, thoughts, and words you speak. Simply because everything matters. How you choose live and what you think of your situation, others, and you future can impact your ability to live in the moment.
Even if you feel like there’s no chance that things can’t change for the better. Whatever you chose to believe will have a direct influence on the person you choose to show up as and all that you do.
So when I think of being present and in the moment while healing I can’t help but to think of how crucial it it to take a moment to pause and invite God into the good, bad, and everything in between.
This not only gives you peace, comfort, and reassurance. It also allows you to invite him into your journey and daily life.
2. Grow A Heart Of Gratitude
When healing, life can feel extremely overwhelming. Even the things that don’t require much effort or time to complete.
Sometimes, whatever it is that you’re healing from can unintentionally take up space in your mind and leave you feeling drained.
The mind can be a beautiful space but it can also be a place that justifies negative thought patterns, rumination, negative self-talk, critical thinking, and a constant loop that mentally keeps you from healing , being present, and enjoying life.
Gratitude however, can be the invitation to welcome joy, positivity, and healthy thoughts. Because each time you slow down to practice gratitude, your’e choosing to focus on the good.
Which is a reminder to be mindful of what you’re thinking about. What you fix your mind on can make your healing journey more difficult or inspire growth.
So, starting each day reflecting on 2-3 things that you’re grateful for can be a wonderful way to be fully present and to shift your focus to good things.
3. Learn A Skill Or Pick Up A Hobby
Another great way to be present and live in the moment even while healing is to shift your attention to something of meaning.
This can become a positive outlet for you to process your emotions in a healthy way or a great way for you to add some fun into your life at a time you need it most.
An effective way to choose what to put your focus towards is by choosing something that helps others or brings you joy.
This is something that has helped me tremendously during my journey.
Simply because I know that if not intentional about how I live it’s much easier to rely on my feelings as a guide.
It’s something that gives you a sense of purpose and allows you live life fully. Whether you enjoy the hobby, the process of creating something, or the joy it adds to your life.
Having something positive to focus on helps you take your mind off your issues and on to things like actually living your life and showing up daily.
4. Limit Your Screen Time
While it’s wise to be mindful of what you’re consuming and how much of it you allow into your daily life.
It’s especially thoughtful of something to be mindful when you’re healing and even when you start see progress.
During your healing journey may be experience heavy, real, and uncomfortable emotions. Consuming unhealthy, negative, or content that constantly triggers you can contribute to what you’re trying to heal and overcome.
Too much of the wrong things can be a hinderance to your growth and take you off the path you’re walking. It’s difficult enough healing, building discipline, and being consistent.
Limiting your screen time is a great way to create healthy boundaries in a simple and effective way.
You can go even further by doing a digital detox and removing any accounts that don’t align with your growth, healing, faith, or goals.
5. Create New Memories
When navigating uncomfortable situations and emotions it can feel impossible to go on with life. However, movement in the right direction is crucial during your most vulnerable time. Being that all you choose to not to do will play a role in your life in some way.
It may seem like the small things don’t matter but they do. Even the tiniest of steps can make matters worse or better a week, month, year, or even years later.
No positive change is too small for real life transformation.
You can do so by creating new memories and experiences rather than replaying past events. This will encourage you to start living life again but in more intentional and authentic ways.
Healing looks different for everyone but the truth is we all will discover how to live and move forward when we start relying on God rather than ourselves.
6. Romanticize Your Routines
Your daily habits and routines are what truly create change.
There are also the things that you can use to transform your life. Aligning your daily actions with your values, goals, and your desires can inspire you to take the action to live a better life.
While making something that seemed impossible feels more attainable, by approaching them in a realistic way.
Habits are what you repeatedly do.
We all have them, that’s why certain actions feel normal. But, if you’re wanting change in your life then it’d be helpful to review how you’re spending your days and time.
A fun simple way to do this is to start romanticizing your routines and habits. Tracking your habits are a great way to visually see your daily progress and hold yourself accountable.
When you focus on the good things you will change your life, simply by showing up consistently. A few ways to romanticize your routines and habits are:
