Need help creating a monthly reset routine to prepare for the new month? If so, then today’s post is for you!
A monthly reset routine is an awesome way to improve your days throughout the month.
Having a set day to prepare for the upcoming month allows you to reflect and reset your life.
Since I’ve started implementing monthly resets into my life I feel more organized and ready for the new month that’s ahead of me.
If you’re someone who is looking to reduce stress when it comes to your monthly, weekly, and daily tasks then you could benefit from having a monthly reset routine to improve your productivity, wellness, finances, and goals.
This is also a great way to build new habits and ensure that you make time for your desires.
AREAS TO RESET EACH MONTH
Life gets busy, and realistically, with all our daily responsibilities it can be nearly impossible to sit down and make sure we’re getting things done.
This is why I recommend dedicating a few hours each month to prepare for the new month. Doing so, will save you time and help you create a game plan to achieve your monthly goals.
A few areas to include in your monthly reset routine are:
- Goals – things you would like to accomplish and intentions for the month
- Health & Wellness Ideas – meal ideas, workout ideas, self-care ideas, and new habits you’d like to start
- Finance Overview – monthly budget, reviewing your spending, planning your bills, and creating a savings goal
- Bucket lists – things you’d like to do and try
- Work-Related Tasks – tracking your progress, time management, and
- Home Tasks – chores, home projects, and home organization ideas
- Self-Improvement Ideas – books you’d like to read, podcasts you’d like to listen to, hobbies, you’d like to start, habits you’d like to start/give up, and more!
The Monthly Reset Routine To Prepare For The New Month
Monthly Tasks For The Start Of The Month
1. Have A Monthly Reflection
Reflect On What Went Well In The Previous Month
One of my favorite things to do during my monthly reset routine is to reflect on my wins and what went well.
This helps me to see which areas I’ve been consistent in and review how I spent my time.
When you acknowledge the good habits that you’ve developed and practiced daily it becomes easier to bring those habits into the new month since they improve the quality of your life.
… And What Didn’t Go As Well
Therefore, it is also important to review what didn’t go so well.
When you know what didn’t work out in the previous month, you can then make changes in the areas you’d like to make improvements on.
There are many lessons that we can learn from our mistakes.
A few questions I ask myself at the end of the month are: What were my distractions and how can I minimize them? How did manage my time? What will I spend less/more time doing going forward? Did I prioritize my wellness this month?
2. Have A Wellness Check-In
Having a start-of-the-month check-in to contribute to your wellness is a great way to start the month off right. While you already may be thinking about what needs to get done in the upcoming month, it’s crucial to prioritize your wellness.
I enjoy sitting down during my monthly reset routine and creating a plan to help me stay grounded and be more intentional with my actions.
Taking note of how you’re currently feeling can help you give thought to how you intend to care for yourself moving forward. This is why I recommend creating a wellness plan for how you will care for yourself mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically in the new month.
You can achieve this by identifying your stressors and how you plan to manage them whenever you feel overwhelmed.
You can also create a monthly bucket list to help bring more joy and excitement into your life. Having a list of things you’d like to do or places gives you something to look forward to and an opportunity to create new memories!
3. Set Your Monthly Goals And Intentions
What are your intentions for the month?
Once you get clear on your monthly vision you then can create your goals for the month.
Setting a few goals that you would like to achieve can help you get clear on what habits you’ll need to start this month. By doing so you’re simplifying your monthly reset routine by creating goals that are realistic and achievable. Whether you are getting back on track with your goals or creating new goals.
4. Create A Daily Routine That Supports Your Goals
In addition to setting goals, it’s also important to know what habits you need to continue or start to achieve your goals.
Your daily habits will either get you closer to your goals or cause you to feel stuck. Which will make it difficult to take action and start working towards your goals.
For this reason, it’s crucial to be mindful of the habits that you practice.
However, it’s all about forming the right habits and showing up that will lead to success and growth. Holding yourself accountable will also stay disciplined and make time for the things that matter.
5. Plan Out Your Month
Planning your month is something that can save you time and stress throughout the entire month. An overview of important dates, reminders, events, etc. is a fantastic way to save time when planning weekly and daily.
When you fill in your planner at the start of the month, you’re less likely to forget about important tasks and dates.
Using a planner is a great way to organize your work and home life. Also making a monthly list in your planner can ensure that you get down the big and small tasks for the month!
6. Organize Your Life
Getting your life organized is another monthly reset idea to start the month off right. Something I enjoy doing at the start of each month is to declutter my life in any way possible.
This may look like doing a brain dump to clear my mind, decluttering my space and my devices, or simply removing things from my life that I no longer use or need.
I also find it helpful to organize my home, work life, finances, and other important areas of life to help me stay on track with my goals!
7. Follow It Through With Inspired Action
Lastly, you want to make sure that you’re holding yourself accountable to follow through with your monthly goals.
You can use a planner to help you stay organized and on track. After filling in your planner and having a game plan for the new month the only thing left to do is to show up. While it may sound easier said than done, remembering your goals, improving your self-discipline, and letting go of distractions may help stay on course and encourage you when you don’t feel like showing up.
